Obtaining Modifications and Enforcement

After the court establishes custody orders, circumstances, if significant, can warrant a modification of orders.

Child support and custody agreements can always be modified if significant changes occur in the lives of the parents or children. The changes may include:

• Changes in income or financial circumstances such as job loss
• Relocation due to a new job
• Change in child's or parent's health
• Change in parental ability to care for the child
• Accusations of being an unfit parent

Conflicts may occur if orders custody orders are not being followed. In situations where child support payments may be in arrears you should contact the domestic relations section who is managing your support order.
